What crossplay solves
Crossplay removes the need for every friend to buy the same storefront or console version. A group can therefore plan around the devices it already owns, as long as each player uses one of the currently listed platforms. The current official list does not include Xbox, so an Xbox player cannot join simply because other platforms support crossplay.
The normal join route
The official FAQ points players toward platform friend lists when the relationship is visible there. That is the first route to try because the session can appear through the platform’s social connection. If a friend is not exposed automatically, the host can create a session Join Code and share it with the intended players.
What a Join Code is
A Join Code belongs to a session created by the host and is generated for that session. It is not a permanent account identifier, a public room code or a promise of random matchmaking. Treat it as a practical fallback for a known group, and request a fresh code when the host starts a new session.
Crossplay is not matchmaking
The official FAQ says Big Walk does not offer online random matchmaking. Crossplay answers which listed systems can share a world; it does not create a queue of strangers or a public lobby browser. If the group has no friends ready, use the separate community guidance with caution rather than assuming an in-game queue exists.
Party size still applies
Every cross-platform group remains inside the 2–12 player range. The host also chooses a world variant for two, three or four-plus players at session creation. The variant is about the intended party shape, so crossing from PC to PS5 does not remove the need to choose and communicate a group plan.
Save ownership still applies
Crossplay does not change who owns the world save. The host remains responsible for the session’s progress, and the same host needs to restart the world when the group wants to continue. Platform cloud-save services are separate from cross-platform sharing and should not be described as a shared cross-host save.
If the join fails
Check that every player is on a currently listed platform, that the host is using the current session code and that the code was copied without extra spaces or missing characters. Then confirm the platform friend route and the session state. If the issue remains, mark the exact failure as待实测 instead of claiming a platform combination that the sources do not document.
